But surprisingly investors are looking for an investment strategy that will work always and forever. They're constantly searching for a magical formula that can simply be put on autopilot. Unfortunately, no formula exists, nothing always works, and nothing will ever work forever.

The U.S. stock market has had an almost uninterrupted eight year rally. Many investors believe the code has been cracked and have discovered investment strategies that can be programed into an algorithmic trading program and consistently generate profits. The idea that computers, not humans, make the trading decisions responsible for consistently generating profits only increases the desire to utilize these investment strategies because far less work is required by an investor or portfolio manager.
