There's nothing more bullish for the Dow (DIA) and the S&P500 (SPY) than 'bad' news.
I say 'bad' as clearly the news wasn't as negative as we were made to believe. Leading into each event we were bombarded with opinions on what Brexit, Trump or Italexit will do to the markets. I can't remember any of them saying the markets will go up.
The situation reminds me of a sub-plot in 'Deadwood' series two. In a lawless gold-rush town in the 1800s, a plan is hatched to scare people out of their gold claims. Rumors are spread about the validity of claims and the new commissioner forces a newspaper to publish a statement (written in legalese that hardly anyone understands) designed to confuse and cause unrest.
