Scanners are great—until they don't work, or don't link to your PC, or aren't there when you actually need one, such as at a client's home with documents you can't take with you. That's when it's time to crack open Scanner Pro. Essentially the app snaps a shot of a document like a photo, but allows you to change borders, upload it as a JPEG or PDF, and then email, fax, or send the scan immediately to a host of applications from Dropbox to Google Drive. The app works from an iPad or iPhone. When you’re offline, you can't send, but you can pull up the document when disconnected from cell service or Wifi. It costs $6.95—well worth the investment as opposed to, say, having to race to Kinko’s.
