UBS Picks Improbable Cup Winner

In the June issue of Registered Rep., we wrote a short REPort about UBS and Goldman Sachs attempting to predict the outcome of the World Cup. UBS predicted right.

In the June issue of Registered Rep., we wrote a short REPort about UBS and Goldman Sachs attempting to predict the outcome of the World Cup. Goldman Sachs chose Brazil, the “undisputed favorite,” to take home the 2006 trophy, predicting Brazil would defeat either Germany, Argentina, England or Italy in the final — a solid bet. UBS also put Brazil in the final but picked the Azzurri of Italy as its opponent and the Cup winner. The Italians, of course, beat France in the final, but the clever gnomes in Zurich get a nod for picking the winner.
