Bear Stearns has hired Rob Sandrew as a Boston-based associate director for the firm's advisor services business. Sandrew, who was a senior vice president of institutional brokerage sales for Boston Institutional Services, reports to John Tyers, manager of RIA Sales for Bear Stearns Global Clearing Services.

Bank of America named Christopher Frank private bank head for the affluent West Los Angeles/Orange County market. Frank was the executive director and regional sales manager for Morgan Stanley's western region.

Merrill Lynch has appointed Mario Paredes as head of the Hispanic market. Paredes joined Merrill from the Northeast Hispanic Catholic Center, where he was director for 25 years. “We look forward to expanding our specialized programs, such as financial planning and bilingual resources, within the Hispanic market,” says Subha V. Barry, head of the firm's Multicultural and Diversified Business Development Group. Initial plans will focus on Boston, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Washington.

Lisa Kubica has been promoted to executive vice president and COO of three AIG SunAmerica broker/dealers: SunAmerica Securities, Sentra Securities and Spelman. She was senior vice president of operations and trading for SunAmerica Securities.

L Michael J. Gilotti has been named executive vice-president of wholesaling, distribution and marketing for the Phoenix Companies. In this newly created position, Gilotti will supervise all life, annuity and retail investment management distribution and marketing operations. Mark R. Tully assumes Gilotti's responsibilities as head of annuity distribution and sales.
