A Virginia advisory team with more than $915 million in managed assets is moving to RBC Wealth Management. The firm is joining from Truist and will work out of RBC’s office in Tysons.
The Brown-Brinkley Group includes co-managing directors Alexander S. Brown and William Brinkley, who boast 22 and 36 years of experience in the financial services industry, respectively. Taylor Brinkley (William's son) is also on board as a financial advisor.
The team moving to RBC also includes senior business associates Lane Thomas and Victoria Roberts, Senior Financial Associate Hunter Brammer, Registered Client Associate Clary Kacvinsky, and client associates John Kim and Jan Conner.
According to Brown, the team opted to make the move to RBC for its “supportive, client-first” culture, as well as additional resources.
According to SEC records, Brown first joined the industry at First Union Securities in 2001. After less than a year, he joined Wells Fargo for eight years, followed by several multi-year stints at Scott & Stringfellow and BB&T Securities before landing at Truist in 2021.
Brinkley joined the industry in 1989 and, in 1991, began an 18-year tenure at Wells Fargo, where he met Brown. He also joined Scott & Stringfellow and BB&T, until he joined Truist in 2021.
Several weeks ago, RBC picked up a team with $855 million in assets under management from J.P. Morgan. The team included advisor Michael Taggart (who previously worked at Merrill Lynch). The team includes several support employees and will work out of Florham Park, N.J., location.
Additionally, earlier in May, RBC added two former Merrill advisors with about $900 million in combined assets to its Bel Air, Md., office. RBC has about $583 billion in total client assets, with more than 2,100 advisors working at nearly 200 locations in 42 states.
