I would also say that you should look at your stategy a little differently.  When I was in the bank I focused on teaching the team to look for rollover opportunities when talking to their customers.  Over the years over 80% of the business I did was from assets outside the bank.  Yes having a branch with more assets is important, but more importantly is the type of customers they see.  Teach them to ask the right questions and it will become clear to the manager that you aren't after "their" assets, but in partnering with "their" clients.
