20yrVet:

I wanted to hear something today, but bad news comes on 3 day weekends.  If we hear of a call scheduled from Tuesday or Wednesday, I think that could be a good omen.

Not to mention...it's Friday the 13th. If you believe in that sort of thing.

It’s waaaayyyy to quiet on this thread today.

Where are all the prognosticators that predicted that TODAY would be the day that retention would be announced.   I thought at least they would return here to blow off some steam and tell the world what they now thought of DL or JH or how they now feel about how WFC treats their people.

Another day with no news!
We're here, pal.  This deal was to be laid out today but something stopped it.  That's what we're all trying to find out about.  Either the reaction in STL from the regionals and managers who were there was negative enough that DL is trying to rekindle the UBS JV, or they decided to hold off the 'festivities' until the start of the new week to take the 3 day weekend out of the picture.  The first is good, the second is bad.

Maybe it’s the multiple FAs that are leaving…they are overwhelmed with the numbers…does any one want to guess how many WS FAs left today??? … and maybe there was a break in the UBS negotiations.

We arent getting a penny.  This is all bull sh@t.  I am tired of it all.  Just talked to my guy and he said that the old deal that I have posted on this forum is out the window. (obviously)  He said the retention is laughable and does more harm then good.  I am through with this place.

“I’m gonna buy Lacey a bra with my retention bonus” Judge Smails
“I’m gonna buy Lacey a bra with my retention bonus” Judge Smails
Carl Spackler actually located the WFC definition of retention bonus:   So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I need retention for my troops! Don't you understand the competive market for advisors?  Not only that, the advisors and their clients have been through the ringer. I can't go back to them empty handed !

Tough rocks! It's your big elephant in the room not mine. BWHAHAHA
Feb 13, 2009 6:38 pm

Its gotta be UBS, nobobdy from AGE would leave now with this conversion stuff and the March 16 bonus.

Or maybe it is going to be an awesome retention package and they want to use the cover of the Socialist Stimulus Plan to put it out so the press doesnt get all over it. I think that might be wishful thinking on my part.
Feb 13, 2009 6:47 pm

If anybody was still in doubt…my manager said that the announcement was postponed until next week…go home, kiss the wife, hug the kids and remember that we still have something…just not a retention.

First post… Been reading awhile and have some very general thoughts… One reason we may not be hearing about retention today is the fact that the system as a whole is being shut down for the intergration this weekend. If they fear that there will be massive defections then how will the remaining FA’s contact the book over the weekend to keep it from leaving? Second thought deals with the fact that Wells has always been very conscious about its perception in the public eye. I can’t forsee them paying anything at this exact time due to the public perception of what it would be called. (remember we just took another large impaiment to our earnings) I do believe there is something that will be done. The sooner the better. Just not yet. One final thing, one of the reasons the Midsession call may have been canceled is that the Bond market closes at 2pm. Hope this gets better.
