Ok some stupid questions for those of you have gone through recent EJ training i would like to learn from your experience.

  1. I will be starting training at EJ soon, are the laptops wireless enabled? 2. How long a day do you need to be actually online? (Family wars could break out if I am on all day on a conventional connection). 3. During this period of training is a dedicated connection more advisable? 4. How long a day on the phone?   Any useful tips?

I new at the forum but I can give you a bit of insight from my experience. It has been a while since I was in your shoes, and tech/procedures may have changed a bit. I think it’ll be about the same though.

When I started there was no wireless for the laptops, and I doubt it's used today. I may be wrong. It sounds to me that since you haven't had a laptop, you are beginning to study for exams--if so, good luck. As for the time spent on the computer, it primarily is used to take unit exams and you will not be connected that much. It only takes a few minutes to input your answers and your done for "upteen hours" till you take your next exam. Once again, if your just studying and staying on task, and making a passing grade, you will not be on the phone much unless you have numerous questions. You'll have some conference calls with others studying too. Just be ready to live, eat and sleep the series exams. Forget hours, on the computer and phone, it'll be uncountable hours with your nose in the book.   Once again, good luck!

You’ve mistaken me for someone who is working off of the far end of his kitchen table, sharing his business computer with his wife and kids, like you.

Actually, they have had wireless capability for a few years. I used it with the old laptops 3 years ago. I would recommend a high speed connection. Dial up ends up being a pain in the a$$. Whether or not you do wireless is up to you, but I loved it (I could bang stuff out in the living room at night so I didn’t spend TOO much time away from my wife). It also helps if you are travelling, whatever.
