Still - I’d be careful how I post. There are a lot of successful people who never even completed college. Quite a few actually.
I should…especially in a forum where I’m only known for what I write. It’s easy to give the wrong impression of who I am.I’m beginning to think it’s time for me to stop talking about my plans and start acting…I think from now on, I’ll just come to this forum to dole out sales advice to newbies!!!

Are you living up to the old adage:

Those who can do, those who can’t teach?
I always wondered about that adage… what if you are a teacher, and then become a professor? Is it because you couldn’t make it as a teacher?

Professors are teachers that have drank the liberal kool-aid.  You could consider them the Edward Jones General Partners of the teaching world.

My wife is a professor - and is a social liberal but fiscal conservative.

Aug 24, 2009 8:09 pm

Do you find her arguing with herself about how to pay for social programs?

Aug 24, 2009 8:16 pm

Not really. She believes private enterprise can solve most social problems. She is a social LIBERAL, not social SOCIALIST.

Still - I'd be careful how I post. There are a lot of successful people who never even completed college. Quite a few actually.

If I were you, I'd concentrate on getting your new biz up and running, not trying to make fun of volt - who by the way, from what I can tell, made PDP quite easily.

Anyway, as for what 3rd said - yes I think he has an extremely low chance of success. But, I also think there are multiple ways to skin the cat. If he can be creative and innovative, he can make SOMETHING work. My guess is that it won't be traditional advisory services, IF IT HAPPENS AT ALL>
PDP - Qualifications met in week 6.  Sold and opened more accouts in Eval/Grad than Still did in 17 weeks.    Education - Irrelevent to the work at hand so no point talking about it.  My degree is framed and comes in a nice dark blue color.  It also sits in a box in the garage - my parents are still pissed they spent so much for it to be in a box.  Again, education is irrelevent.   Smartest person I ever met was a farmer .. damn guy had the quickest wit and absolute best insight into life of anyone I'd ever met.  College for two years, dad died, he came back to take over the farm.  Of course my old boss from Dartmouth made better excel spreadsheets.    Still ... get a job
volt, I am starting to wonder about you...have you and Windy been throwing back beers in your downtime?

You're right, that did sound a bit Windyesque but I assure you I was not trying to be pretentious.  I will do better next time

Just trying to illustrate how small the PDP goals actually are.  For me it was a 20k bond order, a 15k rollover, some little bonds, and a bunch of roth accounts.  My biggest fear in life is failure so rather than ignore those tiny orders I embraced them to meet the PDP account opening goal.  "Mr. Client, if you could begin to save for your retirement and work with a professional for less than $2 per day would you do it"

i didn’t fully read this post. But i’m gonna recommend P&C…
I’ve met quite a few people in the p&c biz who work 9-5’s and market their insurance to everyday folks. Take for instance, a guy who manages a retail store and always talking to customers. He also hands them his farmer’s biz card and sells em auto and home insurance.
…Google and then read, “The Common Denominator of Success” by Albert E.N. Gray
This is an excellent read…thanks anon.

I have interviews with NML & Guardian tomorrow. I believe both are going to make offers.
hmmm…maybe I should just put my all into this one more time, and if I can’t make it, just go back to being an chippendales dancer.

any thoughts?
