I failed the 65 twice using Kaplan. Finally passed it last month using ExamZone’s Pass the 65. I highly recommend the Test Taking Stratagies & Practice Exams. This exam requires you to “know” the subject matter, rather than memorizing snippits of information.
This is coming from a noob, non-financial adviser-insurance agent in transition. Currently looking for a firm willing to take a chance on me.

Passed the 65 couple of months ago. I studied for a year and did a lot of quizes from Kaplan. Took the test when scoring more than 80%. How much are you scoring in the Kaplan quizes?
The 65 is a hard test, no doubt about it. I took it in 2009, and passed first time. I stepped away from that role, let the license lapse, then retook it in 2017. Ugh - failed it. The test was much harder than it was in 2009. Studied again, retook it, and passed 3 months later.
I used Kaplan materials in 2017. After I failed the 1st time, my firm sent me a different set of training materials, but I hated them, and went back to Kaplan. I had used Kaplan for my 6, and insurance exams, and personally liked the format.
I was successful the 2nd time around by really focusing on taking practice test after practice test. Where Kaplan excels is that you can load your practice tests (Q bank) with material that you need the most help with. I tested over and over and over again, and easily passed the 2nd time around.
I'm studying for the 7 now, and using STC materials. My new firm personally has a high success rate with candidates using STC. Since you've failed twice with Kaplan, check into STC.
I wish you much success.
