Take your new account forms and business cards. Why go door-to-door, when you can solicit 500-1,000 potential prospects (in their bikinis!) within a half mile area? Talk about efficiency!!!!!!!!!
Half the businesses I called today had owners on vacation. One was even shut down for the week. I also talked to an accountant and his firm shuts down tomorrow afternoon and through the remainder of the week as well.
I am heading out at 1 PM, once the market closes.
IMO this is the wrong attitude/approach. For example the single best day to cold call is the day after Thanksgiving. How many of you out there take advantage of this?
Tomorrow is a day to absolutely pound the phones. While your contact ratio may be a bit less than normal, you can spin this the right way. The people you do speak with will appreciate your dedication if you present it in the right manner. Rich people don't want you taking days off or playing golf (unless it's with them), they want you working hard and finding new ideas for their portfolio. Think of it this way: the guy you reach tomorrow at 5 pm may eventually move his 2 million dollar account your way, earning you 20k in gross/year. Yeah, that's how it happens.
The time to take vacations/time off is when everyone (else) is working. Ironically, no one ever notices.
Get to work....and make it happen. I will be doing just that.

Thanks Judge, I always get something useful from your posts....
The only conversation I remember when calling the day after Thanksgiving this past year was a grumpy old man telling me he did not do business on Black Friday. That still makes me laugh.
I am squeezing in extra CFP study time around work and family visits. Friday I’m playing in a golf outing.
Homer the Motorhome is in the shop getting a new set of Michelins. I need to work this week. Those suckers are expensive!
One second thought, screw it. I'm taking off. I'll just mortgage the house or something.
Seriously, I'm off for the rest of the week. However, we have a big July production month dipped, waxed, and ready to roll out. For us the month starts next Monday. The fact that it's a fee month adds a cushion.
Hats off to Judge and all others planning to work tomorrow.
Time to shut it down.
BTW I have 4 appointments tomorrow (7-5-07); 3 are already committed to signing the transfer docs' and the 4th is a wild card. Tomorrow I'll wrap over 2 million; these are new clients and will add to the bottom line. This is how it's done.
