Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! Right now I just want to work for a bank to build up my network of possible clients. It has been my experience that Asians LOVE banks and always want to stuff their money into CD's. I dont know about other geographic locations but in Houston there is about 25 local banks next to each other servicing the Asian market. 25 banks on one road in Chinatown!!
I tried working the Asian market while I was at Ameriprise and it didn't work out too well..they like Charles Schwabb and Merrill Lynch above all investment firms.

It is my experience that Asians are fond of using the market as a form of gambling--which would explain the loyalty to Schwab.
I bet that even banks have a difficult time converting the CD buying instinct into mutual funds and/or annuties.
Nonetheless even if only a small portion of the possible clients are converted it can be an attactive way to make a living.

It depends on what part of Asia you are from. You will get either side of the extremes...very conservative or VERY risky. In Lake Charles about 80% of the gamblers are Vietnamese.

So, DA2, you're saying that DIY's are basically gambling... Hmm.
A joke guys, relax. I cannot access this board from my office, so its’ been 24 hours since my “turns into a pizza at midnight” comment! Just a little levity to help with all of us who are building books and grinding it out. So, slkgirl, I have to go, "me sooo horny…"
Seriously guys, why are we wasting so much time on someone who should clearly apply for a job as a bank teller?

[/quote]I also observed this first-hand. When I was at UBS(PaineWebber) their Forest Hills office blew up in the early part of the decade. It was ugly. Ask around if you want to know.

Because deep down, we all love Asians...
