Perhaps Thurston Howell III was onto something: a remote location, surrounded by water and palm trees. And if these five billionaires are any indication, the islands are not a bad place to meet some of the wealthiest individuals in the world. 

Data provider Wealth-X released its list of the wealthiest owners of luxury islands, valued at $10 million or more.

"Even though it may seem that some of these island properties are rustic or ordinary, you can expect the highest standard of security, privacy and exclusivity - with bespoke, contemporary amenities for these individuals, their families and friends," said Wealth-X CEO Mykolas Rambus.
