Prior to joining EMM, Susan served as the National Director of Fiduciary for the Family Office group of BNY Mellon where she provided fiduciary, wealth and estate planning services to the firm's largest and most complex clients and advised families on governance issues and philanthropic matters. Previously, she consulted to private family offices, developing their governance structure, operations, and policy and procedures. Susan also worked with Deutsche Bank as Managing Director and head of ultra-high net worth trust and estate services. Additionally, she has held key fiduciary roles at US Trust and SunTrust Bank. Susan also served as President on the Board of Trustees of the May Mitchell Royal Foundation where she directed foundation operation and succession.
Susan serves on the Board of the Trust School for the New York Bankers Association, and is also a member of the teaching faculty for both the ABA National and Graduate Trust School at Emory University. Susan is a member of the New York Estate Planning Council and the New York Society of CPAs. She is a frequent author and lecturer on complex fiduciary matters and has been published in publications including Trusts & Estates magazine.
Susan earned her Bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Barry University in Miami and completed a three-year program at the prestigious ABA National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She also holds the Certified Trust Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation. Susan is also completing her Masters in Accounting from Syracuse University with the goal of obtaining the CPA designation.
