Stephen W. Murphy
Mr. Murphy advises individual and institutional clients on complex estate plans, trust and estate administration, and the transfer and management of real estate and closely-held businesses. He received his J.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia, where he was an editor of the Virginia Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
He is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he teaches Trust and Estate Administration. Mr. Murphy is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar on the interpretation of statutes and regulations. He was named a Virginia SuperLawyers “Rising Star” in Estate Planning & Probate in 2012 and 2013, and his articles and essays have been published in various law reviews and journals.
