The University of South Florida, University of Tampa and Hillsborough Community College are all based in the city. Tampa saw approximately $35.9 million in student housing sales over the past year. Florida as a whole accounted for a big chunk of student housing sales year-to-date in 2014.
Schools located in D-Town include the University of North Texas at Dallas, Texas Women’s University, Southern Methodist University and The University of Dallas. About $38.8 million in student housing sales took place in the city in 2013-2014.
Orlando may be best known as a vacation destination thanks to Disney World and Universal Studios, but it’s also a higher education mecca. University of Central Florida, Valencia College, Barry University School of Law, Florida Institute of Technology, Adventist University of Health Sciences and Seminole State College all have campuses in the city. Over the past 12 months, there were $39.6 million in student housing sales in Orlando.
Home to Sacramento State, the city also contains campuses of Drexel University, University of San Francisco, University of the Pacific, University of Southern California, Alliant International University and the list goes on. There were $47.8 million in student housing sales in Sacramento in 2013-2014.
Gainesville is home to the University of Florida, which boasts one of the largest campuses in the country, Santa Fe College and City College. There were $49 million in student housing sales here in the past year.
Philadelphia is home to dozens of institutions of higher learning, including University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, Temple University, St. Joseph’s University, LaSalle University, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia University, The Art Institute of Philadelphia and Chestnut Hill College, to name just a few. Approximately $59 million in student housing sales took place in the Philadelphia metro area over the past 12 months.
The Big Peach houses more than 30 colleges and universities, among them Emory University, Clark Atlanta University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia State University and John Marshall Law School. There were $61 million in student housing sales in Atlanta in 2013-2014.
In the past 10 years, the region saw the entrance of two new universities—University of California, Merced and California State University. It also boasts Monterey Institute of International Studies, San Joaquin College of Law, Fresno Pacific University and the Naval Postgraduate School, in addition to a full roster of community colleges. Over the past 12 months, Central California saw $66 million in student housing properties trade hands.
Institutions of higher learning in Austin include University of Texas at Austin, Concordia University, St. Edward's University, Austin Community College, The Art Institute of Austin and a branch of Park University, among others. The city saw roughly $153 million in student housing sales in 2013-2014. Texas also appears to have the most significant pipeline of student housing properties under development right now, with five projects under construction today and another nine in the planning stages for delivery in 2015 and beyond.
Florida’s state capital is considered an all-out college town and serves as home to Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College, in addition to outposts for Flagler College, Barry University and Keiser University. Over the past year, it saw about $173 million in student housing sales.
