Carson Group has acquired a Roseville, Calif.-based advisory practice. Advisors Jerod Wurm and Casey Frye bring $365 million in assets under management and join from Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, the bank’s independent broker/dealer channel.
Their practice will be rebranded from Wurm & Frye Wealth Management to Carson Wealth.
The partnership with Carson will provide them with access to greater resources, including operations, compliance, technology, investment management and HR support.
This also provides them with a continuity and succession plan. While the two have a long runway before retirement (Wurm is 51 and Frye is 55), they wanted to ensure they had a plan in place when they eventually retire.
“When we first met with Jerod and Casey, it was to discuss how Carson could be a great partner today, to help them grow and continue to enhance their boutique client experience,” said Michael Belluomini, senior vice president, mergers and acquisitions at Carson, in a statement. “But we realized Carson could also help solve for the future of the firm and ensure that Jerod and Casey’s clients continue to receive the independent advice they trust. That’s when we pivoted to also solving for succession.”
“As part of our commitment to our clients, we recognized the importance of partnering with a company that would not only help us provide the best possible service today but also help us plan for tomorrow to ensure our legacy continues,” Frye said in a statement.
This follows news last week that Carson was fully acquiring a $1 billion Chicago-based Carson firm. Carson was one of the most active buyers in the wealth management space in 2024, executing 10 deals last year.
Based in Omaha, Neb., Carson Group was founded in 1983 by Ron Carson and serves financial advisors and investors through its three businesses—Carson Wealth, its retail wealth management arm; Carson Partners, an RIA partnership platform; and Carson Coaching, an advisor coaching service. Carson Group currently manages more than $40 billion in assets across all three, serving more than 51,000 families through a network of more than 150 partner offices, including more than 50 Carson Wealth locations.
