As 2020 came to a close with no relief from the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, many retail and restaurant operators continued to struggle. There have certainly been some companies in the sector that have benefitted from the situation, including grocery stores, quick-service restaurants and sportswear and ammunition sellers. But no retailer ended the year having paid its full rent due for 2020, according to the year-end report from Datex, a provider of supply chain software. A few players did manage to pay more than 99 percent of their rent.
