Can you smell what The Rock is repping? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his ex-wife (and private wealth management firm founder) Dany Garcia are strategic investors in financial services company Acorns, according to a company announcement.
Acorns revealed that it is also partnering with Johnson to credit every family that opens an “Acorns Early” account with a $7 investment, representing the same pocket change that the famous entertainer found himself with when he was jobless at 22-years-old.
"Especially this year, there are numerous people feeling as I did when I was jobless with just $7 dollars in my pocket; anxious and uncertain about my life and future,” said Johnson in a statement. “Those $7 bucks represented a defining moment that changed my life.”
Johnson, an entertainer, and Garcia, an international bodybuilder and former Merrill Lynch executive, co-founded Seven Bucks Companies, which includes a production firm and creative agency. Garcia also leads operations at The Garcia Companies and TGC Management, firms she founded.
Terms of the investment were not disclosed.
The $7 campaign runs from Aug. 25 to Sept. 7. Acorns has almost $3 billion in AUM and 8 million people in the U.S. have opened accounts.
