The recent financial meltdown has instilled a new frugality in the majority of Americans, according to a recent poll of U.S. Consumers by Deloitte KnowledgeCo LLC, “The 2010 American Pantry Study.” Over 40 percent of surveyed Americans were directly affected by the recession — lost jobs, pay cuts or reduced hours. And over 93 percent expect to continue to reign in their spending when the economy improves.
