Wachovia Securities announced two hirings from Smith Barney. Chuck Friedlander and Roger Hall joined Wachovia in August as financial advisors. Friedlander has worked as a rep for 18 years, Hall for 11. At Smith Barney, the duo ran the Friedlander Group, which specialized in retail fixed income investments and bumped up its assets more than $100 million in the last three years. The Friedlander Group will remain intact under the Wachovia banner.
A.G. Edwards promoted Doug Medley to the position of Southern Regional Manager. Previously, Medley, who has worked for A.G. Edwards since 1976, ran three branch offices in Mississippi. The southern region at A.G. Edwards includes Arkansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Louisiana, Tennessee and Mississippi and contains 54 different branches.
Managed account whizzes John Hyman and Fred Patykewich have left CIBC to join Bear Stearns' new Private Client Advisory Services group. The duo is expected to help the firm with its transition to fee-based pricing. They are based in New York and have worked for Smith Barney in the past as well. And Bear Stearns recently also hired Bruce Cox, a former branch manager at Prudential, to work at Bear at its Peachtree Road offices in Atlanta.
Ajay Mehra has joined Boston-based State Street Research as its head of equity research. He previously worked as senior vice president for the Columbia Management Group. He also worked as an analyst for Smith Barney.
