Morgan Stanley issued a statement this afternoon saying the number of employees who may have lost their lives in the World Trade Center terrorist attack on Tuesday is less than 40.
The firm, which had 3,700 employees who worked at World Trade Center offices in the firm’s retail and asset management groups, said that there are no confirmed deaths. Between 30 and 40 people are still unaccounted for, according to the news release.
“When you consider the incredible destruction that occurred, the loss of fewer than 40 of our people out of the 3,700 who worked there is a near miracle,” said CEO Phil Purcell in the statement.
Purcell added that Morgan Stanley is ready to serve all clients in financial markets around the world. The firm has been relocating offices and employees who formerly worked in the World Trade Center to other sites in Manhattan, New Jersey, and Brooklyn.
