It’s no coincidence that about half the books on this year’s list are business memoirs or trade books that include large segments of personal history and reflection. All of the books on this list were conceived of during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when many people felt dislocated, uncertain and fearful, with time on their hands to question their role in the order of things.
The content of these books runs the gamut from risk management to investing to financial literacy. Yet, all of the authors also reflect on their personal journeys and the evolution of their values. For the first time, the list includes a book on finance written for children. As in years past, the list includes a worthy novel—this year set in the world of finance and philanthropy—whose fictional themes offers lessons just as pertinent as those of the non-fiction titles. All prices are for the retail print edition; discounts are widely available. Most titles are also available as e-books for digital download or audiobooks for those who prefer to listen.
