Global crude oil market fundamentals have tightened considerably since bottoming in April 2020, aided by a combination of unprecedented OPEC and non-OPEC supply curtailment and a meaningful recovery in global demand associated with the restoration of global economic activity.
While this fundamental commodity tailwind has provided a meaningful boost to stock prices for energy companies across the value chain, much of the sector, including the midstream universe, still remains at a valuation level close to levels seen during the Great Financial Crisis. In our view, this valuation dislocation has created an extremely attractive investment opportunity. Nonetheless, at this stage of the recovery, not all companies are equal in terms of risks, opportunities, and equity return potential. Accordingly, we now emphasize selectivity versus a “buy the group” approach.
Please join us for our upcoming webinar as we examine the state of the energy market in the midst of a global economic re-opening. We will also discuss the following key points:
- Offer an assessment of the current global crude oil and natural gas markets, and provide our outlook for commodity fundamentals and pricing scenarios for the remainder of 2020 and 2021.
- Identify important U.S. energy and midstream sector fundamental trends, and highlight key company operating and financial metrics that underscore current investment merit.
- Discuss the current energy and midstream sector investment opportunity set, including valuation in the context of absolute and historical valuation trends.
