LPL Financial said its annual advisor conference, originally scheduled to take place July 19 to 22 in Chicago, will now be held virtually from Aug. 19 to 21, due to the health and safety concerns related to COVID-19. The event will also be free for all LPL clients.
The virtual format will now allow advisors’ support staff to attend the conference, and the firm has created a new content track aimed at these professionals.
The general sessions will be broadcast online each day of the conference, including discussions with LPL executives and keynotes with Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell. Breakout sessions will also be streamed online daily.
The format also allows for some personal engagement and networking, including Q&A, live chat and gamification experiences. The firm has created a “digital square,” to replace the conference’s expo space, and will offer access to home office and sponsor representatives, who can engage with advisors in real time. There will also be networking rooms for advisors to connect with each other.
