One of the most common reasons dogs and cats are presented to a veterinarian is because of gastrointestinal problems, such as vomiting, diarrhea, or weight loss. Some dogs and cats have serious conditions such as pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas that can lead to severe complications or even death. Other patients have less serious conditions, but are abandoned by their owners because of chronic vomiting or diarrhea - a devastating impact on our companion animals.
