Hilltop Securities, a Dallas-based broker/dealer with over 325 independent and employee advisors, has promoted John R. Muschalek to head of wealth management; he was previously serving as chief administrative officer. Muschalek will oversee the firm’s private client group, independent advisor network, securities lending and clearing services businesses.
Muschalek is a 27-year Hilltop veteran who has served in a variety of leadership roles. He is a member of the firm’s executive committee, reporting to President and CEO Brad Winges.
Muschalek joined Hilltop Securities’ legacy firm, First Southwest Company, in 1992, where he served as chief financial officer, financial and operations principal, and head of correspondent clearing and securities lending, among other roles. He serves on the FINRA Uniform Practice Code Committee and Financial Responsibility Committee, and has also served on FINRA’s National Adjudicatory Council. In addition, Muschalek is a past chairman of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Clearing Firms Committee.
