With the Madoff and Stanford scandals still relatively fresh in investor memories, a handful of companies offering free background checks and rating services on financial advisors have been cropping up online. AdvisorCheck, Fabeetle, FinancialAdvisor.org, FinanceAnswers and National Ethics Bureau are just a few of the firms offering such services. Some of these firms also allow advisors to create profiles and provide a space for clients to write reviews.
