After one more in a long string of delays, Morgan Stanley on May 17th finally gave its brokers the ability to create personal home pages, according to a firm spokesperson.

The firm expected to have its home page technology in place by early April, but for unexplained reasons, it wasn’t ready to launch until mid-May. The spokesperson says that in the first five weeks, about 2,000 brokers (out of roughly 14,000) had created home pages.
Morgan Stanley still hasn’t launched its broker-prospect matchmaking service. Presumably, the firm is waiting until a greater number of its brokers have home pages to guarantee that prospective clients will always be able to find at least one matching broker within their geographic areas and won’t go away disappointed.
Initially, the firm intended to make home pages available only to those brokers who were assistant vice presidents or higher, which represents about half of the sales force. However, the firm has since decided to open up the home page project to all of its brokers who have been registered with the NASDR for at least two years, the spokesperson says.
