NEW YORK, NY - Prominent commercial real estate specialist John N. Garvalia has joined Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation as Senior Vice President of Design Center Leasing, it has been announced by Cohen Brothers President and CEO Charles S. Cohen.
Mr. Garvalia, 52, a seasoned industry veteran with 25 years of experience leasing and managing multiple design centers across the country, will oversee leasing activities for the Cohen Brothers’ design center portfolio, which includes the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, CA, the Decorative Center of Houston, and the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA) in Dania Beach, Florida. He will be headquartered out of Florida.
Prior to joining Cohen Brothers, Garvalia served as Vice President of Miromar Development Corporation, where he leased and managed the marketing, tenant coordination and general operations for the Miromar Design Center in Estero, FL. During his 11 years with Miromar, Garvalia was active with the local business community by serving as a Director of the Estero Chamber of Commerce, holding the position of President for three years, and also representing the ECC on the regional Horizon Council.
Previously, Garvalia was President of Dallas-based Crow Design Centers, a real estate management and development company, whose projects included design centers in Boston, Dallas and Houston. Before that, he worked as the Financial Manager/Leasing Agent of the Boston Design Center, where he brought the building to full occupancy following a complete repositioning of the property.

Mr. Garvalia earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from University of Wisconsin La Crosse. He is currently a member of Design Centers International (DCI).
