Legal Journalism Expert to Build on the 100 Year Tradition of the Premiere Journal for Estate Planning and Wealth Management
New York – May 28, 2002 – Veteran journalist Rorie Sherman was named today as the new editor-in-chief of PRIMEDIA’s Trusts & Estates magazine, the journal of wealth management and estate planning. Ms. Sherman broke the Baby M story, covered family and eldercare law, and, most recently, helped lead a redesign of American Lawyer Media’s Corporate Counsel, as that magazine’s editor-in-chief. At PRIMEDIA, she will spearhead the expansion and enhancement of Trusts & Estates’ editorial content and lead the exploration of a wider range of topics, including coverage of alternative investments, charitable giving, accounting, legal and foundation/non-profit issues.
Among Ms. Sherman’s first initiatives will be to lead an enhancement of the style and design of Trusts & Estates, focusing on the inclusion of more in-depth feature stories, industry conference coverage and the creation of a more interactive and redesigned Web site.
“With the field of estate planning and wealth management growing dramatically, Trusts & Estates has an unprecedented opportunity to build on its 100 year tradition as an industry leader by offering timely and relevant editorial that captures both current developments and offers direction on the future of wealth management and estate planning,” said Rich Santos, publisher of PRIMEDIA’s Financial Services Group. “Rorie’s knowledge and understanding of the legal profession and her proven expertise as a journalist will play a valuable role as we strengthen our ties with readers and effectively expand our wealth management franchise. As the magazine continues to grow and diversify its product offerings, we think Rorie is ideally suited to oversee our efforts and sharpen the overall image of the magazine.”
Ms. Sherman joins PRIMEDIA’s Trusts & Estates from American Lawyer Media, where she held numerous positions. As editor in chief of Corporate Counsel, a publication for business lawyers, she oversaw a magazine redesign. Previously, Ms. Sherman was acting managing editor and associate editor at The National Law Journal. She also launched The National Law Journal’s website and served as executive editor of Law Technology Product News. She graduated from Colgate University and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
