Carson Group Names Dani Fava As Chief Strategy Officer

Also, former LPL exec Heather Randolph Carter will serve as CMO. The news comes just days after CEO and Founder Ron Carson stepped down.

The Carson Group has named Dani Fava its new chief strategy officer and Heather Randolph Carter its chief marketing officer.

The news comes just days after the firm revealed that CEO and founder Ron Carson was stepping down to become chairman of the board. Burt White, managing partner and chief strategy officer, is the new CEO. Fava will occupy White’s vacated role. 

Last month, Fava left her job as chief strategy officer at EnvestnetFava joined Envestnet in 2020 as head of strategic development. Before that, she served as director of institutional innovation at TD Ameritrade Institutional.

Randolph Carter replaces Mary Kate Gulick, who stepped down as CMO of Carson Group in June. Gulick joined FiComm Partners in August, a marketing agency specializing in the wealth management industry, as executive vice president of marketing. Randolph Carter held various leadership positions at LPL Financial for almost 20 years, most recently as chief marketing and communication officer. She left the IBD last August.

Carson founded the Omaha, Neb.-based RIA in 1983. The firm includes Carson Wealth, Carson Coaching and Carson Partners. It has $35.5 billion in AUM and serves 50,000 families through its advisory network of 150 partners.

Supported by Bain Capital, which took a minority stake in 2021, the Carson Group embarked on an intentional inorganic strategy in 2022. Previously, the Carson Group had taken minority stakes and facilitated tuck-in transactions for partner firms with a small in-house M&A team.

White served as chief investment officer at LPL Financial for 14 years before joining the Carson Group in 2022. Starting in 2017, White oversaw the transformation of LPL’s technology and became a leading figure in rebuilding its tech stack. He was closely associated with many rollouts of its ClientWorks platform.
