ETF Sheep Keep Going

ETFs still only account for 17 percent of all assets invested in mutual funds.

Marketwatch published an article based on an reports by ETF strategist David Perlman at UBS and it turns out Investors plowed $92 billion into exchange-traded funds in the third quarter of 2016. At the end of the quarter U.S. ETFs held about $2.4 trillion in assets under management. If inflows continue at this rate it will be the third consecutive year of over $200 billion in AUM flowing towards ETFs:

Equity ETFs remained the most popular asset class by far, accounting for 76% of assets under management at the end of the quarter.

Marketwatch end their article on a "positive" note:

But while ETFs have seen expansive growth in assets under management over the past 15 years-total AUM has doubled since 2011-by the end of the second quarter of this year, they amounted to just 17% of assets invested in mutual funds.
