Summit Trail Advisors, the $5.5 billion AUM wealth management firm on the Dynasty Financial Partners platform, said Wednesday they were launching the STA Investment Alliance to help other independent advisory firms research and implement investment strategies largely based around alternatives.
Summit will make available to other firms access to their model portfolios, including alternative investments and market research, and help vet preferred managers. The STA Alliance plans to make alternative investment strategies, hedge fund and private equity offerings available to RIAs looking to differentiate their investment offerings.
Firms can supplement their own portfolios with the service, or turn over their investment management to Summit Trail. STA Alliance will create custom portfolios for third-party RIA clients that want to outsource their chief investment officer role.
“We have been approached by a growing number of large RIAs and family offices seeking access to our investment platform as a way to differentiate their investment offerings,” said David Romhilt, Chief Investment Officer at Summit Trail. “We believe we can partner with approximately 10 to 25 firms to deliver high-quality investment solutions over the next few years.”
Dominick Trapasso is joining Summit as a principal in the firm’s Chicago office to lead business development for The STA Investment Alliance. Previously he was a regional director for RIAs at asset management firm Lord Abbett, and prior to that a managing director for RIAs and family offices at Nuveen.
