The Jones press release says that Jones scored particularly well for more affluent clients, apparently contradicting claims on this forum.
The JD Power web site says "new clients are primarily motivated by a strong brand image and recommendations they receive from colleagues and family." Here it is often claimed the firm does not matter at all.

Could you provide a link to the part about "affluent clients"? BTW, how many clients does Jones have that are "affluent" and what % of "affluent clients" use Jones?

Remember, affluent clients dont use email! which would represent all of the world, hell I bet Bill Gates and Warren Buffett dont have email
The Jones press release is not available through a link. A local Jones office might mail it to you.

News that big and you can't get it from anyone but a Jones broker?
Does that seem a little odd to you?
You could try and get the link through the Registered Rep article on their website. http://www.jdpower.com/corporate/news/releases/pressrelease. asp?ID=2006107

Sorry Mike, but ButtKiss is right.
Jones DOES score well for the affluent.....
EVERY GP I EVER MET WAS AFFLUENT AND THEY WERE VERY HAPPY.....

Color me a bit skeptical also. Could be that their definition of affluent is at least $20,000 investable and a full tank of gas...
Do the value of their (jones clients) cars go up and down depending on how much gas in in the tank?

The Jones press release says that Jones scored particularly well for more affluent clients, apparently contradicting claims on this forum.

And whether or not the wheels are taken OFF the double wide or not.
Affluent was defined as more than $100K. They also ranked Jones #1.
It is a 67 page report on our system, and is quite detailed. Many points refute claims posted arrogantly here. I like to read the facts, instead of anonymous boasts.
Another aspect of the study analyzed the number of referrals per client each firm received, and Jones was the highest here too.
And by the way, another site analyzed firm payouts for $1 million, $600K, $400K and $200K, and Jones was #1 or close to #1 at each production level with bonuses and diversification trips included, but not LP.
I plan on staying with the firm for decades.

Butkus,
How long have you been at Jones? My guess would be less than two years. I used to say that I would retire from there as well.

A close friend of mine who now works for ML said that it is mandatory to have a poster of JD Power and associates in every brokers office to help persuade their clients keep their money there
Real tomato ketchup Clark
Wrong.
That close friend is an idiot as it is not MANDATORY. It is a congratulatory momento of the great job we do for our clients.
OK it is obvious now. MBAassist is IH No "i" with a new name. Only someone trying to get people worked up could say something that stupid. And his name... are we supposed to believe that someone with an MBA is working as a BOA at Jones? This is a joke.
MBA you are a dumbass.
Unsung idiot:
You are wrong all the way around IDIOT. I don't know who "IH No "i"" is, but I am not HIM, I am a HER. And YES you bet your sweet butt that many people including me with an MBA work for Jones as BOAs and IRs. I love my work and my clients, therefore making my job pleasurable. I have read this forum for many months and thought I would test just to see how rude you guys are. Wow! You must have a miserable life outside of work! By the way, I am not a dumbass. How far along are you on your education?
I'm not sure how that is relevant.
You sound just like all of the other Jones newbies that are drunk on the Kool Aid. You just keep believing that the payout is the best at Jones. That's exactly what the GPs hope you believe!
MBAassist,
They are plenty rude. By the way, a good friend at Jones has a PhD in engineering and an MBA. Funny, people didn't talk like this at college when I was getting two Master's degrees. It probably wouldn't work well with clients either.
Gone Indy,
Your response is not really worthy of reply, frankly. You probably know the site that did the payout survey. We all know that independence offers higher payout potential, and some trade offs. It doesn't take kool-aid to evaluate that carefully and decide it is not for oneself. It's your life, and mine. I'm staying put. I don't criticize people who go independent, or who work at other firms.

It's clear that you're happy at Jones, and that's a good thing. Further, I applaud you're not criticizing those who leave for greener pastures.
That said, the practice of characterizing those of us who leave as failures all the way to borderline criminal is systemic at EDJ, and that unprofessionalism is the cause of much of the criticism from those of us who have left.
As to the JD Power survey, how does that translate into a positive for your business?

Butkus,
Starka is exactly right. You may not criticize those that leave Jones to go independent but many at your firm do. That is why so many of us that have left have such a sour taste about Jones. Lies that have been told about us are ridiculous. Don't say it doesn't go on, I spent seven years at Jones and listened to it every time a broker defected.
I have maintained since day one that the vitriol being spewed about EDJ on this board is being spewed by losers who left there because they are malcontents who moved on to their next place to fail.
They find this board by Googling the Jones name and have become an angry group of squatters.
Pay them no heed.
