decided to make this for all the noobies as I had a huge struggle practing my scripts when I was a noob (still am only 12 months in the game at the ripe age of 24)

Cold Call sales pitch
*voice is in a deep, loud, clear, demanding, confident voice,

me: Hello (name) ?
prospect: yes how can i help you?
me: Ey, its (my name) from (my firm) hows everything been?/how ya been?/ how are you?

prospect: 1. good/busy/bad   2. Who are you/what do you want?

me: 1.glad to hear it/ busys good/ Im sorry to hear it The reason for my call I wanted to reach out with a recommendation in fixed income, its a short term corporate bond idea and if you have 30 seconds id love to share it, OK!        2. you may recall i we spoke last year in regards to the market. I told you id only give you a call once or twice a year if I had something special and I have that for you today, if you have 30 seconds ill keep it brief and get you right back to what you were doing OK!

Prospect:  1. sure go ahead (or he will remain silent)  2. im not interested

me:   1. (go into pitch)             2. Well it is free to listen and if you like the idea we can start small if not will part as friends But at least listen to the Idea!/ (name) of course your not you haven't heard the idea, ill be as brief as possible

“glad to hear it/ busys good/ Im sorry to hear it The reason for my call I wanted to reach out with a recommendation in fixed income, its a short term corporate bond idea and if you have 30 seconds id love to share it,”

I heard the phone hang up from here.

that sounds like the boiler room pitch of my old firm, exactly word for word

Jeez Louise…This crap has been out there for 100 years. What do they say when you offer them the great 2% junk bond that matures in a year? Client: Wow I’m so glad you called. Let me cash in all my CDs and send you a million to start.

Do you have any suggestions on how to improve pitch then?

can you meet with people instead of talking products over phone? ive been told that a cold call should only be focused on setting up a face-to-face meeting. im fairly new myself, so i can appreciate your efforts. i dialed over 300 times so far this week and have about a handful of people that didnt object violently. no one wanted to come in to my office, a few said it would be ok i swung by theirs…tough gig.

at my boiler room i started out at, i made a good 70k cold calling pitching junk bonds. its possible, but not everyone can do it. now that im at a wirehouse, i have more assets under mgmt and face to face meeting are easier to close. i hated cold calling the same script 100 times a day, its for idiots.

What would excite them enough to come see you, if you’re not talking product? And, why would you want to slow down the process?

If you get someone to meet you, how much time are you going to spend with them before they know why they are even there?

I’ve found a decent way to get a meeting whether it be by phone or face to face is to dangle a product, but not sell a product. It’s salesy but it works

“Mr. Prospect, something I’m doing for my clients right now is providing them with some extra money in their pockets without the burden of taxes. Are tax free checks something you may be interested in? Great…well, let me make sure I find something for you that’s paying higher than anything you can get at the bank. Should I look for lots of $50,000? or should I look for more than that?”

whatever their answer is, doesn’t relaly matter…that’s where you’re just qualifying them.

“okay great, well let me give you a call back in a week when I find this for you. How’s tuesday work? Morning or afternoon blah blah blah”

A mentor told me that prospecting is a lot like fishing. You’ve got to keep your bait on your line and keep the fish following it. Don’t just throw your worms in the lake and pray fish jump into your boat.

I don't like the phrase "How are you?" Especially when it’s someone you don’t know. You don’t care, and your prospect knows you don’t care it comes of disingenuous

Also, the only thing your prospect is thinking is, why is this person calling me and what is it in regards to? So just get to the point.

"Mr. Prospect I know you're busy thank you so much for taking my call - the reason for my call" ... and then go into it. Theres some good resources at http://fahub.net Best, Fad
