My office is in a building with several other firms. This morning going into work the guy waiting to pull in the parking lot in front of me had paid extra to be able to put something custom on his license plate. It was about a 15 year old Honda (or Toyota?) with rust and faded paint and the plate said, DOW20k. I thought that was kind of funny. I guess the guy is thinking if he holds on to it long enough it’ll come true, but who the F puts their market prediction on their license plate, on their POS car.

That’s the value of his 401K at Dow Chemical.

Turn the clock back 15 years and everyone thought the dow could go to 20k.

Judging a person's net worth from the car they drive-bad karma.

Maybe the guy is a poor person, or maybe not.

Many of my clients are truely wealthy. Few drive big nameplate cars. Some drive POS cars.

The current topper is a client with not one ,but two POS cars, an early 90s GMC Astro van and a late nineties Subaru  wagon. He uses the van to haul crap back and forth between his 27 acre estate in central Jersey and his Multi-million dollar beach house on the beach on Long Beach Island. He works a professional  full time job to give him something to do. It gives him "balance." In a WAWA parking lot you'd never pick this guy out as Effin rich! But he is about as rich as your going to find off the Forbes richest.  And he's a good guy who likes to drink beer with his friends. Cheap beer, go figure!

Start a conversation with Mr. DOW20K. Who knows. maybe it will lead to some cheap beer and a big account.
