Please advice. I’ve left one BD and moved to independent world about 6 months ago. I just got first complaint ever from my client at old BD.

It involves variable Insurance product. I have 2 major questions: 1.How can I protect myself from other old clients -I don't even have files in my possesion-they are at old BD and who knows what was lost from them-records -notes.. 2. What are  possible problems for me if customer will win or my old BD will just settle? It may involve some-I assume from that  complaint- misrepresintation or not full disclosure of product sold, or something like that..   I would really appreciate any  insight-it's my first ever complaint..
