Jeremy Schwartz, Global Head of Research at WisdomTree, embraces full transparency, he said at the 2020 Inside ETFs conference.
Schwartz said WisdomTree, since its inception in 1996, has been trying to deliver what it calls "modern alpha," moving away from index-based ways of trying to outperform to building "transparent, active, true active ETFs."
"Do investors really want you to take their transparency away?" Schwartz said. "Or is it just the active managers who are afraid to disclose ... trying to cloak their secrecy. What is their secret sauce? Or is there any secret sauce?
"We've embraced the transparency that investors like knowing what they hold," he said. "They still want to get that alpha potential, but you don't necessarily need to do it in a nontransparent structure."
