Boston, MA, September 3, 2008 – Todd Millay, Managing Director of Choate Investment Advisors, was chosen as one of 40 emerging business leaders for the Boston Business Journal’s 2008 “40 Under 40” award. The 11th annual award recognizes outstanding Boston area professionals under the age of 40 who have established themselves as leaders to be watched in their fields. This year’s winners will be honored at a special reception at the Copley Marriott Hotel on October 2.
Millay, 37, was singled out for this prestigious award because of his high profile work in the wealth management field and extensive community involvement. As Managing Director of Choate Investment Advisors, Millay oversees approximately $2.5 billion in assets for high net worth individuals and families. Millay also works closely with Choate’s wealth management team of lawyers, tax preparers, and trusts and estates administrators to provide clients with objective, integrated solutions to their wealth management needs.
Millay’s professional background also includes serving as the founding Executive Director of the Wharton Global Family Alliance, the research center created by the Wharton School for family business, wealth, and philanthropy, and as a partner in CCC Alliance, a private Boston-based network of over 90 single family offices, each with over $100 million in net worth.
In the community, Millay has been actively involved in expanding educational opportunities for people in the developing world. He supports several organizations that focus on mentoring youth. For example, he was instrumental in securing funding for the regional expansion of INJAZ (the Middle East chapters of Junior Achievement).
“Todd is truly a forward thinking leader in the financial services and wealth management fields and no one is more deserving of this recognition than he is. We are very proud of him being named to the Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list,” said William Gelnaw and John Nadas, co-managing partners of Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP.
Honorees are selected by an editorial committee after the BBJ solicits nominations from the business community. Each year, the selection process becomes more and more competitive. As in other years, 2008 honorees represent a broad spectrum of the Boston business community.
Millay received his law degree from Yale Law School in 1997. He attended Oxford University from 1992 to 1994 as a Rhodes Scholar, where he had a concentration in economics. He earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College in 1992.
