SoFi Partners with Edmit for College Planning

SoFi members will receive free access to Edmit Plus, which provides data-driven recommendations on college affordability.

Social Finance, a digital student loan refinancing turned personal finance company, is giving its members free access to the college-advice company Edmit.

Registered members of SoFi will receive free access to Edmit Plus, which typically costs $99, as a result of the partnership between the two companies.

On Edmit Plus, members share their academic merits and the financial status of their family and in return receive a "financial grade." The grade then produces recommendations on college affordability, the cost of attendance, possible loan repayments and future earnings potential in order to help families compare colleges.

"SoFi was created to help ease the burden of student debt that is stifling a generation in this country," SoFi CEO Anthony Noto said in a statement. "We believe it is imperative to understand early on the significance of taking out a responsible amount of debt for college. We are excited to partner with Edmit to help college-bound students and their families make the most informed decision on where to attend college and how to finance the journey, so that they can achieve financial independence."
