NYC (along with the eastern seaboard) has been absolutely pummeled, cars are floating in coastal areas of Queens and Brooklyn. Police navigated 14th Street in Manhattan in inflatable, outboard dinghies. Hurricane Sandy is continuing to disrupt business, including forcing the U.S. stock markets to close again today. (I believe NYSE ARCA, based in Chicago, the electronic trading system, is running.) This is the first time since the Great Blizzard of 1888, that the U.S. stock markets will be closed for two consecutive days.
