The Journal scored a nice one on its opinion page today, noting how the gub'ment (as I like to say in my best rural, anti-government accent) seems to be impervious to the business cycle. While private businesses have been cost cutting, the Washington, D.C., area is enjoying something of a "boom time." The Distict sports an unemployment rate of just 5.9 percent versus a national average of 9.4 percent. As the Journal notes, "It's good to be close to Uncle Sam when stimulus funds start flying."
