Richard Marker
Richard Marker is an internationally recognized “elder” in the field of philanthropy. He has been CEO of two foundations, a trustee of several others, and is the founder of the Institute for Wise Philanthropy. He has taught philanthropists and foundation professionals from around the world through the Institute, previously at the NYU Academy for Grantmaking and Funder Education and currently at the UPenn High Impact Funder Academy where he serves as Faculty Co-Director. He has lectured in 40 countries, taught at Brown University and Loyola-Chicago in addition to NYU and UPenn. He has been quoted in many prominent publications, publishes the WisePhilanthropy.Institute blog, and is the author of “Saying ‘Yes’ Wisely: Insights for the Thoughtful Philanthropist [2011].” He is married to Mirele Goldsmith, PhD, a prominent environmentalist, and is the father of Adam, an EEO attorney in Washington, DC.
