Ivan H. Golden is an associate at Schiff Hardin in Chicago. He represents businesses and individuals in tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and with state and local tax authorities. His practice is wide ranging and includes both litigation and counseling. Ivan has represented taxpayers in the United States Tax Court and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and in federal and state audits and administrative appeals. He has also represented taxpayers in connection with disclosures of foreign assets and accounts and regularly counsels businesses on the income and sale tax consequences of engaging in business in multiple states or nationwide.
Ivan also maintains a transactional tax practice and advises clients on business formation issues, investments, mergers and acquisitions, and sales and dispositions. Ivan’s pro bono work includes advising charities and other tax-exempt organizations on the process of gaining and maintaining exemption from federal and state income tax.
Before joining Schiff Hardin, Ivan was an attorney advisor to Judge L. Paige Marvel of the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C.
