For the first time, the Securities Industry Association is hosting a conference for retail brokers. The event is June 8-10 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.
The theme of the conference is "Controlling Your Destiny." Jeremy Siegel, a professor of finance at the Wharton School since 1976, is scheduled to give the keynote address. Siegel lectures extensively about economics and is the author of the book, "Stocks for the Long Run."
Other speakers include Joe Battipaglia, chairman of investment policy at Gruntal & Co., and psychologist Joe Marshall of Resource Management of Boston.
"The retail broker is where the industry touches the public," says Russ LaBrasca, senior vice president at State Street Research and Management in Boston and conference chairman. "The purpose is to allow brokers to expand their interaction with frontlineindustry people."
The event will also feature sessions on technology, building a fee-based business, broker teams, marketing and compliance issues.
