Syndicate allocations?
So I've been kind of active with our syndicate for the past few months (after not participating for years). What kind of allocations are people getting out there? Does every firm use an index or is it manager discretion? Does your firm have a fair process for deciding allocations?
You’ve been active in recent months and you’ve done it in the past and you don’t know how the shares are allocated? You’re lying about something.
I know how MY shares get allocated. I am wondering how it works in other branches / firms. The index allegedly has something to do with the allocation but it seems to be far more subjective. When I see allocations they are not relative to the syndicate index. I am wondering if there is a more fair way to distribute syndicate that is taking place at other firms. I can impact the process here and am hoping to hear of a "fair" system elsewhere.
Child: Those who are quick to accuse usually have something to hide.
I think in our office only 3 guys do it, not sure how they divide it up, all I know is I better get more than 100 shrs of NYMEX.
BTW Inner Child why don’t you ever bring anything of substance to the table? Go vent somewhere else.

What is "the index"? Here's what I'm hiding...I think you're almost as big a moron as bankfc.
Your not in the biz if you don’t know what an index is…beat it

Ok, big girl...how are syndicate shares allocated based on "the index"?
how much spansion did I get, allocations went out @ 6:30, don’t see it on the screen?
how much spansion did I get, allocations went out @ 6:30, don't see it on the screen?
Well...the index closed at 1,396.57 today, so you got 31 shares.
less than that, T-dog WTF…0? We get any?
Inner,
An index is a ratio that is used to calculate how many shares of an IPO or follow on you recieve. In theory if you have an index of .1 and your office gets 10,000 shrs u would get 1000. This is an example only, it works differently at different firms.
Right or wrong LT, u gotta do something.

Gotcha. I never heard of that. When we did syndicate at my old firm, the index was how the branch manager felt about you at that moment in time. I always did well because I was a high producing rookie. Then the market tanked and the syndicate dried up. Now, all I do are annuities. Hard to place new offerings in those.
If you are unhappy with your allocation, give me a call.
Our firm has a very active Capital Markets department and is headed up by one of the industry's finest. You will have access to the offerings.
I would love to have the opportunity to explain.
How much NYMEX will you get? How much FACE, CPLA, KBW? We got decent size.
I got a buddy who trades his PIPES thru u.
And is he happy with our Capital Markets department?
"Badmove" call me in the morning and I will hook you up with the main people.

Are you involved in the Woobistics deal?
Who is your buddy that does PIPES with us?

Christopher Moltesante
Can’t tell you his name, but when he tried to sell a woman a mutual fund instead of a house stock he got pistol whipped!!
Child - now I understand your screen name - un prompted name calling ? Are you kidding me? Care to expand?
NOFX, u spelled quik wrong, “quick”. u go to a state school?
Inner Child is a low producing insurance agent, maybe from Primerica or otherwise.
He had no idea what a syndicate index was, yet "always got a lot" at his "wirehouse" because he was a "high producing rookie."
The only people who feel the need to boast to others about their "success" are those who feel inadequate.
Inner Child is one of them.
Here is how it worked at MS before I left. they have change it a little since then. all ipo's and secondaries counted, preferred's did not. (now they might) I was the cordinator for the office
1. the more syndicate commissions you did , the more you could get.
2. The longer you held the stock the more points you accumulated.
3. There was little stock on the hot deals to go around and everyone wanted them. Very few people worked the secondary offerings, which is where you can get stock. I allocated to the people who did syndicate business unless the manager overided me, which happened when the biggest broker in the office would complain.
4. now, i think they use assets and production. mike butler might know the new rules.
5. you will make more commissions by doing a lot of secondary offerings. trade like the hege funds.(see entry 9)
6. avoid the term "franchise deal" on the ipo's. they never worked out. anyone remember the genuity IPO
7. never trust any buy recommendation on any syndicate deal. I used to sell my ipo shares the day the analyst put the stock on the buy list. The secondary offering you do not have to do this
8. remember that most companies have an IPO lockup's for 6 months. Be careful on the secondaries if they are mostly insiders selling.
9. Hedge funds/IPO/secondary whores make a fortune buying these deals and trading them for about a small pop. Many secondaries are priced below the market and these guys shave off a 1/2 point to a point on many of these deals. 5000 shares going up 1/2 is better than 100 shares going up 10. They know the brokerage firms support the deals to make them work. When I leave the business, I will do this also.
Pardon the spelling mistakes

You're funny. If you're gonna be jealous of me, please quote my correctly instead of putting down what you think you read? Is this variance between reality and your perception of reality the reason you've been relegated to hounding poor people while they deposit their paychecks on Friday?
Boy - 3 pages of "dialog" and 2 succint answers to the original topic...
Child - I still don't get the name calling bit...
Can you let me know what we get for NYMEX and that REIT. I have a late appt.

And then of course, there is the above "pearl of wisdom". Lay off the sauce and pay attention - you probably had a bright future at some point in your life. You've been on the board for 5 weeks and posted 110 times ... 90% of the time during market hours - Wal Mart must be paying ... never mind , your not worth it.
