Tired of being harangued by a guy who tells bad jokes and has been out of the business for 20 years, while sitting in a stuffy room choking on stale doughnuts?

Royal Alliance thinks there's a better way to do seminars. The independent broker/dealer, a unit of SunAmerica, recently launched Royal Academy, a series available in CD and video format to address the needs of independent advisors.

The five-part series had its premier at the company's Boca Raton, Fla., conference in early June.

The videos cover a variety of topics, with amusing-sounding titles that promise a lot. Take, for example, How to Double Your Production in Half the Time!, by Thomas Gau.

Other topics covered in the series include marketing, high payoff activities, working with a junior rep and creating alliances with CPA firms.

The videos include wisdom from such Royal Alliance reps as Ric Edelman, Mark Schwartz and Ken Unger.

But you had better hurry — Royal Alliance says they're only available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
