Continuing its focus on the account-opening process, Betterment for Advisors announced it’s adding a Trust Account Opening feature to its advisor automated investing platform. Betterment previously had a client-initiated trust account opening process; this is the first time advisors can manage the entire paperless process, said the firm.

The news comes on the heels of Betterment for Advisors’ partnership with financial planning provider RightCapital and in response to feedback received from advisors on the platform. Earlier this year the firm rolled out a paperless streamlined rollover process designed to be initiated by the advisor’s client.

The Trust Account Opening will allow advisors to open trust accounts on behalf of clients who already have an established trust. Clients will need to review and sign off on the details.
